Stress is recoded as a sequence of "0"s and "1"s, where a "1" indicates that the phoneme at that position is the first phoneme of a syllable receiving stress. This coding scheme of course allows for secundary stress as well ("2").

When alignment is done, a windowing procedure generates letter-by-letter instances.
